Hey there! We are sisters, Darien & Emma Donovan, and here’s our story:

In 2020 we jump-started our dream of opening an at home bakery specializing in cakes, cookies, cupcakes and cake pops, and Donovan Sprinkles was born. Our favorite dessert topping inspired the name; Sprinkles!

Long before Sprinkles came to be, the creativity and comfort to experiment in the kitchen that we were raised with helped develop our passion for baking today. At a young age we both found a love for baking! Each summer our parents held an annual “Cake Boss Decorating Competition” where our creative ideas had the opportunity to come to life (Emma always won those competitions).

We were raised by entrepreneur parents, so from a young age the idea of working for ourselves and “being the boss” rather than “working for the boss” was drilled into us. During the 2020 pandemic, we for the first time had the opportunity to be “the boss”, and with the backing from our parents we started Donovan Sprinkles! Donovan Sprinkles was ran out of our childhood home for two years and flourished thanks to our amazing community! But after taking over our Mom’s kitchen (sorry mom), it was time for the next step!

After growing out of our home kitchen it was time to make a decision, and here we are today on Naamans Road in our home town, Wilmington Delaware! Our family has quite the background in Italian food and entertainment, so it was only fitting that our Italian heritage was incorporated into this new venture. We were raised with a heavy Italian influence that has carried though generations among generation, that are still shared and enjoyed through traditions (and recipes) today! Many memories, much laughter, and tons of love have been spent in our kitchen and we hope to bring those same traditions to you and your families!
